Acupuncture Therapy at Tattenhall Physiotherapy and Wellbeing

About AcupunctureTherapy

Acupuncture is an evidence-based system of traditional Chinese medicine. The treatment involves the insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles to stimulate specific points on the body to regulate the flow of Qi, the body’s life force or energy. Acupuncture works by promoting a healing response, restoring physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The treatment is aimed at addressing the root cause of the condition along with the presenting symptoms.

Acupuncture can also be used to treat the side effects of chemotherapy, such as nausea, fatigue and insomnia. Acupuncture can ease anxiety, reduce stress, anger and tension, thus enabling patients, families and friends to better cope with the illness and it’s treatment. Acupuncture may also assist in pain management, making everyday life more bearable.

Is Reflexology for me?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy, and may help people with symptoms such as physical pain and anxiety. For example, the integration of reflexology into pharmacological care, can improve patients‘ quality of life, by reduction of pain and improvement of their functionality. Reflexology has also been shown to be effective in attenuating chest pain and anxiety for people who have had a heart attack. There is also good evidence to suggest that reflexology can help relieve feelings of nausea and fatigue associated with chemotherapy.
